The Elithis Danube Tower has been selected as one of the winners of the “Living in France Tomorrow” competition unveiled today by Emmanuelle Wargon, Minister of Housing.

Press release

The Elithis Danube Tower is one of several exemplary housing projects selected by the France Ville Durable association and unveiled this Wednesday, May 19 by Emmanuelle Wargon, Minister of Housing.

The France Ville Durable association started with the observation that solutions for a more environmentally friendly city already exist. The trick is to deploy them on a large scale, so that they have a real impact. France Ville Durable has therefore selected a hundred or so demonstrators at the housing, building and neighbourhood levels. She wants to highlight these achievements that perfectly meet the challenges of sobriety, resilience, inclusion and creativity.

This selection comes just a few days before the Prime Minister’s announcements allocating nearly one billion euros for new, land-saving and sustainable housing. This is to help and encourage local communities to conduct experiments to achieve low environmental impact neighborhoods and blocks.

The Elithis Danube Tower is part of Strasbourg’s eco-neighborhood: it has demonstrated that positive energy buildings (which produce more energy than they consume) contribute to limiting the environmental impact of their city.

Elithis seeks to promote density while giving its towers a slender silhouette. This allows for a rationalized use of the land in the fight against its artificialization. The need for floor space can thus be divided by four compared to a “classic” project. The Elithis Towers, produced at standard construction costs, are also designed with reversibility of use avoiding the obsolescence and pollution of demolition-reconstruction. The results of the Elithis Danube Tower prove that an energy bill of 0 €, associated with a neutral carbon footprint, can be achieved on a large scale.

Elithis is committed to building 100 positive energy towers within ten years, as part of a €2 billion investment program by real estate investor Catella RIM. This know-how, mastered by Elithis teams alone, allows us to imagine and design with elected officials tailor-made projects that correspond to their expectations and those of the inhabitants.

“The distinction of the Elithis Danube Tower by France Ville Durable shows that positive energy housing is a solution for sustainable housing. The Elithis Danube Tower has already proven that it is possible to build comfortable and spacious low-carbon housing at standard cost, which is healthier and more environmentally friendly. All this with a gain in purchasing power for households, who can erase their energy bills. – Thierry Bièvre
